MAGNIFICENT!! Early 'ROOLD' Flying Helmet.

This is a brilliant example of the "ROOLD" Flying Helmet.

French made "ROOLD" Flying Helmet. This is an early pattern, with the brass "wheel" inserts on the ear flaps. Very lightweight, made from cork covered with waterproofed cotton, with a leather sweatband and quilted lining. All in amazing condition for a 100 year old Flying Helmet!

Of interest is the fact that "ROOLD" headgear was popular with all air forces in WWI, and was worn by the German Air Service, French, Belgians and all. Roold Helmets were also obtained in quantity through official channels for issue to the Royal Flying Corps.

Given the age and fragility of the lightweight construction of the Helmet a better example would be very hard to find.
