The Uniform, Caps and Medal of RAF Flt Lt. Neumark
++++++THE ONLY 'ETHNIC GERMAN' MEMBER OF HIS MAJESTIES FORCES ALLOWED TO WEAR THE FINNISH WINTER WAR MEDAL 1939 - 1940++++++
When you see that medal ribbon on an RAF Tunic it certainly catches your eye!!
This is certainly one for the researchers to get their teeth into.
Included in this group are Flt Lieutenant Neumark's Uniform, Visor Cap, Side Cap and his original Winter War Medal... he was also entitled to the 39/45 Star, France and Germany Star and War & Defence Medals but I don't have them.
The Uniform is in great condition, the Visor Cap is a bit dishevelled but fine for display and the Side Cap is in good condition.
Neumark was a Sudatenland ethnic German. He volunteered for the Finnish army in 1939...to fight against Russia...and is listed as a 'student' on roll. For some (non-apparent) reason he came to the UK and was commisioned into the RAF...and sent to Tokyo...and then back to UK..His war service remains invisible..but it is surmised he worked in intelligence. After the invasion he was in Europe..and brought out an Austrian countess..whom he subsequently married.
Can't help thinking he should have been a good friend of Ian Fleming!!
These items all came direct from the "Neumark Estate", he passed away five years ago. They came straight to me from Andrew Taylor, one of the nicest and most credible UK Militaria Dealers there is.
